'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of his team's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative strike from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately hammered in the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory completed an unbelievable recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. During the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result booked a upcoming match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right defensive wing after Orient changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the opposition who complimented the way the underdogs approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the basics and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It feels like they always find their target and they know how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're doing well and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a strong mentality and concentration just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a popular figure across two seasons at Orient and has quickly replicated that in his new home. At his previous team he joined forces once more with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without serious challenge. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for his team and nation, shining for his national side, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including both legs fixtures against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the kid from the local area in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his dad, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they played on an plastic turf and the arena covering was closed owing to conditions of -15C. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he says, grinning. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "This turned out fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I realized I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I thought I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the following person out of the minibus and driving. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would mix with followers on the Tube after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
