19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with former trainer his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
